Libraries are like magical treasure chests for all ages—minus the pirates (usually). Plan a family trip and dive into the shelves! Pick a book everyone can read and discuss it over dinner—yes, like a mini family book club, but with snacks.

Too busy to read? Grab an audiobook and let someone else do the work while you follow along. Bonus: You can all argue over who gets to press play.

Don’t miss out on library storytelling events, where pros spin tales so good you’ll forget your phone exists. Trust me, there’s nothing better than being swept away by a great story—plus, it’s free entertainment!

2) Farmers’ Market Fun

Visit your local farmers’ market or farm and meet the folks behind the freshest eggs, cheese, and veggies. Stock up on seasonal goodies—think strawberry jam in summer or roasted garlic potatoes in fall. Supporting local isn’t just delicious; it’s like giving your community a high five (and the cows appreciate it too).

3) Grow a Family Garden

Plant a veggie garden together—raised beds, pots on the porch, or even a community plot if you’re feeling ambitious. If I can dream of gardening despite not being able to keep a cactus alive, you’ve got this!

Start small: tomatoes, lettuce, basil, or peppers. When your veggies are ready, bring a salt shaker and enjoy a sun-warmed tomato straight from the vine. Feeling fancy? Whip up a tomato and mozzarella salad with fresh basil or roast some squash and onions. And for a quick snack, slice those peppers and pair them with a yogurt dip. Gardening: because store-bought just doesn’t taste as good!

4) Host a Cupcake Chaos Party

Bake (or attempt to bake, if you're like me and love baking but can’t seem to get it right) a batch of cupcakes and invite the family to a decorating free-for-all. It’s messy, it’s chaotic, and yes, the frosting may end up on more faces than cupcakes—but that’s the fun part!

Perfect for moms with ADHD: it’s creative, it’s hands-on, and nobody cares if the cupcakes look like they survived a hurricane. Bonus: you’ll have a table full of sugar-fueled masterpieces to laugh about later.
